Goal: Promote health through portion control and the consumption of healthy foods to reduce overweight and obesity.
What’s the Problem?
There is strong scientific support for the benefits of eating healthy foods. Between 2011-2015, heart disease was the third leading cause of death and the fourth leading cause of hospital visits in Douglas County. Consuming healthy foods and maintaining a healthy body weight will reduce the risk of heart disease as well as other major health issues such as overweight and obesity, high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes and some cancers.
