UGA Extension – Douglas County is a collaboration between the Douglas County government, the USDA, and the University of Georgia’s colleges of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences and Family & Consumer Sciences. The mission of UGA Extension is to extend lifelong learning to the people of Georgia through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth and families. UGA Extension – Douglas County hosts a variety of events, such as Cooking for a Lifetime*, a free cooking class to help inform under-insured women, ages 21-64, about cancer prevention and screening. They also host several 4-H programs, clubs and summer camps to promote positive youth development. Live Healthy Douglas is proud to partner with UGA Extension – Douglas County as they help Douglas residents become healthier, more productive, financially independent and environmentally responsible!
*Cooking for a Lifetime was last hosted on June 12th. UGA Extension – Douglas plans to host another class in the fall, and the event will be added to our Events page once it is scheduled. If you have any questions about the class, please contact Susan Culpepper at firstname.lastname@example.org or 770-920-7224.
