Cobb & Douglas Public Health (CDPH) will participate in the Douglas County Family Day of the 11th annual September Saturdays Festival, Saturday, September 21, at the Douglas County Courthouse located at 8700 Hospital Drive. The Festival’s theme, “It’s All About Community,” is designed to create and maintain community fellowship and introduce residents to the excellent services the County provides.

The festival is being held from 11:45 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.; admission, parking and shuttle services from adjacent parking lots are free.

“In this fast-paced world, it’s easy not to know your neighbors. The festival gives residents of Douglas and Cobb counties an opportunity to make new acquaintances and meet and greet old friends and neighbors, in a fun-filled environment,” Wes Tallon, Douglas County Director of Communications and Community Relations, stated.

During the festivities, the new Cobb & Douglas Medical Reserve Corps (CDMRC) will be on site at the CDPH Mobile Command Unit to recruit medical and non-medically trained persons to volunteer their expertise in the event of an emergency. CDMRC will also be on hand to answer questions and to help residents prepare for large-scale emergencies such as epidemics, bioterrorism attacks or natural disasters.

The September Saturdays Festival will also feature the Community Marketplace with over 100 vendors and exhibitors including, low cost flu shots provided by CDPH; free vision screenings; healthy eating and exercise tips provided by Live Healthy Douglas; the Douglas County Fire Department’s Fire Safety House; child safety activities provided by SafeKids Douglas; an air ambulance helicopter; school and community choruses performed on the Courthouse stage every 30 minutes; free computerized child IDs; a used book sale; and much more.
